The Canadian Festival of Chili and BBQ is a Not-for-Profit Event
The Canadian Chili and BBQ Society was registered under the Society Act of British Columbia in 2010 and its sole event is the Canadian Festival of Chili and BBQ.
The Festival’s charitable origins started with founder David Veljacic in 1987. A Captain with the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Service, he donated the proceeds each year of the Chili and BBQ Festival to The BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund and in particular, The Young Burn Survivors Summer Camp.
From its inception, fire fighters have volunteered at the Canadian Festival of Chili and BBQ. In memory of David Veljacic, and in recognition of the fire fighters support of the festival, we proudly continue the tradition of donating all proceeds to The BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund. Over $45,000 has been donated to date.
