Meridian Farm Market joined our Festival in 2018 and supply all the fabulous and huge grass fed ribeye steaks for our Canadian SCA Steak Championships! The Canadian SCA Steak Championships is a SCA (Steak Cookoff Association) sanctioned event. The winner will qualify to cook at the SCA World Steak Cookoff Championships in Fort Worth, Texas.

The SCA is our sanctioning body for The Canadian SCA Steak Championships brought to you by Gordon Food Service. Association president Brett Gallaway and his wife Michelle love coming up to our contest from Texas to take in all that BC has to offer. The Association has also contributed extra cash for our Canadian SCA Steak Champion to help the winner make the trip to Dallas and compete in the World Steak Championships at Billy Bob’s Texas!

Perfect grill marks are the norm for the steaks we see but a nice crisp crust is also perfectly acceptable. Unparalleled seasoning, marinating and resting separate the entries and usually by just a few points. All steaks must be cooked to a medium temperature of around 140 degrees internal. This makes for a more finite and discernable degree of doneness to judge. We encourage restaurants and individuals to come try cooking and winning this contest. Who wouldn’t like to have the title of Canadian SCA Steak Champion with the trophy, ribbon and cash to prove it?
