BC BBQ Championships

The One and Only British Columbia BBQ Championships

For the main BBQ event there are four categories: pork shoulder, beef brisket, chicken, and pork ribs which are turned in for judging on Sunday at the top of each hour from 11-2pm. The extra samples the teams have are then offered to visitors, while supplies last, who have a sampling wristband from the Burn Fund.

The meats are cooked for a long time at low temperatures indirectly by only the use of wood and charcoal fires. The competitors cook on small Weber Smokey Mountain Cookers all the way up to huge trailer pit smokers.

Provincial Proclamation makes this event The BC BBQ Championships and The Pacific Northwest Barbecue Association sanctions it. The BC BBQ Championships are recognized by The Kansas City Barbecue Society.

Winners can qualify to cook at the Jack Daniels Invitational Barbecue in Lynchburg Tennessee, the American Royal in Kansas City and at the World Food Championships in Dallas.

The BC BBQ Championships are judged by our sanctioning body, the Pacific Northwest BBQ Association. All categories are judged on appearance, texture and taste and further details on PNWBA rules can be found under the rules tab at http://www.pnwba.com
